RAINSVILLE, Al. — The public is invited to attend a 15-year commemorative program on Friday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at the DeKalb County Tornado Memorial in Rainsville.
The event will honor the 35 DeKalb County residents who lost their lives in the devastating April 27, 2011 tornado outbreak, one of the deadliest weather events in Alabama history. Family members, friends, community leaders and residents are expected to gather in remembrance of those who died and to reflect on the impact the storms had on DeKalb County and the surrounding area.
Organizers say the program will serve as both a time of remembrance and a reminder of the importance of severe weather preparedness. At the conclusion of the event, a drawing will be held for weather radios.
Community members are encouraged to attend and pay tribute to the lives lost while standing together in remembrance, reflection and resilience.
