Tessa Throws Shutout as Plainview Bears Varsity Defeats Wayne County

Tessa Word threw a shutout to lead Plainview Bears Varsity past Wayne County 13-0 on Saturday.

Plainview Bears Varsity secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the second inning. Plainview Bears Varsity’s offense in the inning came from a walk by Hannah Regula, a triple by Kadie Brooks, a groundout by Jada Hampton, an error on a ball put in play by Lily Boswell, and a double by Word.

Plainview Bears Varsity got on the board in the first inning. Word grounded out, scoring one run.

Plainview Bears Varsity put up seven runs in the second inning. Regula, Word, Hampton, Boswell, and Brooks all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

A double by Lauren Bryant in the first inning was a positive for Wayne County.

Plainview Bears Varsity Victorious Gibson Southern Thanks to First Inning Boost

Plainview Bears Varsity scored six runs in the first on its way to a 10-1 victory over Gibson Southern on Saturday. Lily Boswell, Mallory Lindsey, and Kylee Dutton each drove in runs during the inning.

Gibson Southern got things started in the first inning when Ally Malone hit a solo homer.

Boswell pitched Plainview Bears Varsity to victory. The ace surrendered one run on one hit over five innings, striking out 11.

Morgan Burgess took the loss for Gibson Southern. Burgess lasted two-thirds of an inning, allowing six hits and six runs while walking zero.

Plainview Bears Varsity socked two home runs on the day. Boswell had a long ball in the first inning. Tessa Word had a four bagger in the second inning.
