In a dazzling display of creativity and talent, Plainview’s 8th to 12th-grade Visual Art students triumphed at the recently concluded DeKalb County Fair. The event marked a significant milestone for the students and the art program, as it was the first time in three years that their artworks were featured due to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Plainview community is now celebrating their remarkable success.

Under the guidance of their dedicated art teacher, Mrs. Regina Huber, Plainview students showcased their exceptional artistic prowess at the fair. Mrs. Huber expressed her enthusiasm for the program’s resurgence, stating, “This is the first year in the last three years that art has been accepted due to COVID. We are thrilled with the huge success of the art program.”

The fair was not only an opportunity for the students to display their talents but also a platform to compete with other artists from the region. Plainview students rose to the occasion, capturing numerous prestigious awards and accolades.

Among the top honors were the coveted “Best of Show” awards, a testament to the exceptional quality of Plainview’s artistic creations. Additionally, students secured numerous first-place, second-place, and third-place ribbons, showcasing the depth and breadth of their artistic talents across various mediums.

Currently, these impressive artworks and the well-deserved ribbons are on prominent display on the Plainview campus, taking center stage in the lunchroom. The decision to showcase these outstanding creations within the school premises aims to provide an opportunity for the entire student body, faculty, staff, and the community at large to admire and celebrate the remarkable achievements of these talented young artists.

Plainview’s Visual Art program has not only demonstrated resilience but also a remarkable commitment to nurturing the creative spirit of its students. The success of these budding artists at the DeKalb County Fair underscores the importance of fostering artistic talent, even in the face of challenging circumstances.

As the Plainview community gathers to celebrate these remarkable students and their artistic accomplishments, it serves as a reminder that creativity knows no bounds and can flourish even in the most challenging times. The future looks bright for Plainview’s Visual Art program, and the community eagerly anticipates the next chapter of artistic excellence from these talented students.
