On January 26, 2020, at approximately 5:10 pm, Deputies respond to a suspicious fire of a mobile home on Simpson Point Rd in Grant, Al. Approximately thirty minutes later, Deputies respond to a vehicle fire on Holcomb Ridge Road near Grant. Grant and Swearingin Fire respond to the scenes.
Afterwards, a body was discovered in the vehicle. Sheriff Investigators, State Fire Marshals, and the Coroner responded to the scene. The body was sent to forensics for an autopsy. Autopsy results showed signs of blunt force trauma to the body.
Based on further investigation, Corey Lee Collier, 26, of New Hope, Al., has been charged with the murder of Brandon Young, also of New Hope. Collier remains in the Marshall County Jail on a $200,000 bond, along with outstanding warrants with New Hope Police Department.
