“Shop With A Cop” program to help children in need for Christmas

Mycah Swift, a teenager from Ider, Al., started “Shop with a Cop” two years ago, in DeKalb County. The “Shop with a Cop” program is to help children that otherwise would not be able to have Christmas.  With the “Shop with a Cop” program, each child receives $100 and gets to go to Walmart, with a police officer to shop for items for Christmas.

Mycah contacted the Rainsville Police Department about the ideal and the first year the program was able to provide Christmas for 15 children in the community.  Last year Mycah and the police officers were able to provide Christmas for a total of 59 children. Last year Mycah and Chief Smith had a contest to see who raise the most money to help the children and the winner got to hit the other one in the face with a pie.  Chief Smith had the honors.

This year the goal is to be able to help 100 children. Let us help Mycah raise more money this year, to help these children have a Merry Christmas. To help raise money Mycah and Kayron Guffey have teamed up and will be selling tickets for a chance to win a Yeti Hopper 30 Cooler. Ticket are $10 each or 3 tickets for $25.

You may stop by WVSM Radio, in Rainsville, Al., to purchase your tickets or you can call Mycah at 256-899-2357. Donations are also being accepted for the “Shop with a Cop” program.  The goal is for Mycah to put a pie or two in Chief Smiths’ face this year.  The drawing for the cooler will be held on December 11, 2019.
