As the South will see a warming trend the first part of this week, with high temperatures climbing into the mid 60’s, models are showing a chance for Severe weather across the South.

Severe weather will be possible starting on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 in parts of eastern Texas, Louisiana, western Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Then on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, parts of Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and the Florida Panhandle could see Severe weather.

Timing and exact coverage areas can and will change. If you live in the South, then be weather alert on Tuesday & Wednesday of this week. The graphical maps shows a basic outline of where Severe weather “might” be forecast this week.

Plan ahead now. Make sure you have multiple ways to receive watches and warnings for your area. For some areas, this will be a night time event. If you live in a mobile home or manufactured home, make plans to move to a storm shelter near you, if severe weather is forecast for your area. If you do not know where your local storm shelters are, contact your local EMA.
