Qualifying For Local Office Ended Friday, Here Is A List of Candidates

Qualifying for office ended November 8th at 5:00 PM. According to David Gulledge ,with the Dekalb County Republican Party, and Mary McGuire Smith, with the Dekalb County Democratic Party, here is a list  of candidates that qualified for the following offices.

Republican Party

Superintendent of Education – Jason Barnett (unopposed)

Revenue Commissioner – Tyler Wilks (unopposed)

County Commission District 1 – Shane Wootten (incumbent), and Joseph Lee

County Commission District 2 – Scot Westbrook (incumbent), and Terry Harris

County School Board District 1 – Randy Peppers

County School Board District 2 – Chris Andrews

District 2 Constable – William Lee

District 3 Constable – Jimmy Carter (incumbent), and Michael Twilley

District 4 Constable – Billy Whitt (incumbent), Mark Huber, and Jeff Keener.

District Court Judge

We have two candidates that qualified with the State Party for District Court Judge:  Teresa Darwin Phillips, a local Republican Attorney and Steve Whitmire, the incumbent Democrat Judge that by-passed the County party and qualified with the State.

Democratic Party

Coroner – Tom Wilson (unopposed)
