Plainview Varsity Softball Claims 7th County Championship

Plainview Varsity Softball (31-5) cruised to an easy victory over Geraldine 12-2, in game 2, on Wednesday, to claim the County Championship, for the 7th year in a row.

The Bears defeats Collinsville 6-4, in game 1, then defeated Geraldine 4-3, in game 2.

Plainview got things moving in the first inning. Lily Boswell drove in two when Boswell singled.

Plainview put up three runs in the fifth inning. The rally was led by doubles by Tessa Word and Kadie Brooks and a groundout by Boswell.

Boswell was the winning pitcher for Plainview. The ace went two innings, allowing one run on one hit, striking out three and walking zero. Word threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Lydia West took the loss for Geraldine. West went three and two-thirds innings, allowing nine runs on 12 hits and striking out three.

Plainview tallied one home run on the day. Hannah Regula put one out in the third inning.

Plainview totaled 14 hits in the game. Mia Tidmore, Regula, Word, Boswell, Brooks, and Jada Hampton all managed multiple hits for Plainview. Hampton, Brooks, Boswell, Word, Regula, and Tidmore each managed two hits to lead Plainview.

Game two against Geraldine

Plainview built a four-run lead in the fifth inning and then held off Geraldine’s charge for a 4-3 victory on Wednesday. Geraldine scored three runs on a home run in the sixth inning.

Plainview earned the victory despite allowing Geraldine to score three runs in the sixth inning. Geraldine scored its runs on a home run by Lydia West.

Plainview got things started in the first inning. Hannah Regula grounded out, scoring one run.

Lily Boswell pitched Plainview to victory. Boswell allowed two hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out 11.

West took the loss for Geraldine. The hurler lasted seven innings, allowing nine hits and four runs while striking out two.

Plainview launched one home run on the day. Tessa Word went for the long ball in the first inning.

Plainview tallied nine hits. Mia Tidmore and Word each collected multiple hits for Plainview. Word and Tidmore each collected two hits to lead Plainview.

Game one against Collinsville

Plainview weathered a scare by Collinsville in the sixth inning where Plainview coughed up three runs, but Plainview still won 6-4 on Wednesday. Collinsville scored its runs on a home run by Wills.

Plainview got things moving in the second inning. Lauren Jimmerson’s sac fly scored one run for Plainview.

Tessa Word earned the victory in the circle for Plainview. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing four runs on four hits, striking out 15 and walking one.

Beene took the loss for Collinsville. The bulldog lasted six innings, allowing eight hits and six runs.

Plainview smacked one home run on the day. Word had a homer in the fifth inning.

Plainview had eight hits in the game. Mia Tidmore, Mallory Lindsey, and Kadie Brooks each collected multiple hits for Plainview. Brooks, Lindsey, and Tidmore all had two hits to lead Plainview.
