Plainview Varsity Softball Can’t Catch Up To Austin

Plainview Bears Varsity softball watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-3 loss to Austin on Friday. Austin took the lead on a grand slam in the first inning.

The Plainview Bears Varsity struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing Austin, giving up 12 runs.

Austin got on the board in the first inning when Taylor homered on a 1-0 count, scoring four runs.

Plainview Bears Varsity notched three runs in the fifth inning. Plainview Bears Varsity scored its runs on a home run by Tessa Word.

Austin scored four runs in the second inning. Hilleary and Bracken all contributed in the big inning with RBIs.

Hilleary took the win for Austin. The hurler surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out six. #7 threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Word took the loss for Plainview Bears Varsity. The righthander lasted five innings, allowing eight hits and 12 runs while striking out eight.

Plainview Bears Varsity tallied one home run on the day. Word went yard in the fifth inning.

Mia Tidmore led Plainview Bears Varsity with two hits in two at bats.

Austin saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game. Higdon and Hilleary each collected multiple hits for Austin. Higdon went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Austin in hits.
