Plainview Baseball Wins Area Championship

The Plainview Bears Baseball wins the Area Championship, after sweeping the Sylvania Rams in game one 15-0 on Thursday, and 11-1 in game two on Friday.

Game 1 (April 7, 2022)

Noah White shut down Sylvania, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Bears to a 15-0 victory on Tuesday

Braden Haymon led the Bears to victory by driving in four runs. Haymon went 2-for-4 at the plate. Haymon drove in runs on a single in the first, a double in the seventh, and a sacrifice fly in the seventh.

In the first inning, the Bears got their offense started when Ethan Williams grounded out, scoring one run.

The Bears put up ten runs in the seventh inning. White, Haymon, Sam Crowell, Levi Brown, John Mathis Arnold, and Williams all drove in runs in the frame.

A single by Josh Scott in the third inning was a positive for Sylvania.

White got the win for the Bears. The pitcher allowed two hits and zero runs over seven innings, striking out 13 and walking one.

Gavin Chambers took the loss for Sylvania. The hurler allowed five hits and five runs over five and two-thirds innings, striking out four and walking one.

Game 2 (April 8, 2022)

Sam Crowell was brilliant on the hill on Thursday, as Crowell threw a no-hitter to lead the Bears past Sylvania 11-1.

An early lead helped propel the Bears to victory. The Bears scored on a single by Ethan Williams and a single by Braden Haymon in the first inning.

The Bears put up three runs in the second inning.

Crowell was the winning pitcher for the Bears. Crowell surrendered one run on zero hits over six innings, striking out seven.

Brody Smith took the loss for Sylvania. Smith surrendered six runs on seven hits over two innings, striking out one and walking one.

Bears getting RBI’s in the game were Levi Brown, Ethan Williams, Braden Haymon, Noah White, Harrison Huber, and John Mathis Arnold.

The Bears scattered 12 hits in the game. White, Arnold, Haymon, and Williams each racked up multiple hits for the Bears. Haymon, Arnold, and White each collected three hits to lead the Bears.
