Fort Payne Man Arrested For 1st Degree Arson

On April 8th, at approximately 8:21 pm a call came into the Fort Payne Police Department about a structure fire. Officers from Fort Payne Police Department and Fort Payne Fire Department responded to the fire at a home at 1152 Godfrey Ave S on fire in the back-porch area Detective Andy Hairston stated.  An investigation into the fire was initiated by Fort Payne Fire Marshall Stacy Smith and other fire personnel. On May 9th, Allen Tyrone Bailey, age 45 of Fort Payne, was arrested on a Warrant and charged with Arson in the 1st Degree. This warrant was served on Mr. Bailey while he was incarcerated in the Dekalb County Detention Center on other non-related charges.  Bond is set for Mr. Bailey at $200,000.  Detective Hairston and Fire Marshall Smith reported the investigation is still on going.
