Crowell Led Bears In Hits and Williams Homered In Game 1 of Wildcat Classic

Sam Crowell didn’t feel much like getting out on Wednesday, tallying four hits and leading the Bears to a 13-3 win over Section. Crowell singled in the second, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.

The Bears got on the board in the second inning when Braxton Henson singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs.

The Bears notched three runs in the sixth inning. The Bears big bats were led by Crowell and Logan Payne, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Henson got the win for the Bears. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing four hits and three runs while striking out six. Trey Rutledge threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Jacob Cooper took the loss for Section. Cooper surrendered nine runs on ten hits over five innings, striking out seven.

Bears smacked one home run on the day, as Ethan Williams had a dinger in the seventh inning.

The Bears scattered 14 hits in the game. Crowell, Williams, Payne, and Braden Haymon each managed multiple hits for the Bears. Crowell went 4-for-4 at the plate to lead Bears in hits.

Section collected seven hits on the day. Blake Henry and Drake McCutchen each racked up multiple hits for Section. Henry led Section with three hits in three at bats.
