Body discovered at South Sauty Creek identified

On Tuesday, March 13, 2019, Capt. Gary Buchanan, Patrol Commander with the Alabama Law Agency, DPS Marine Patrol released a press statement stating that ALEA Marine Patrol Troopers were called to respond to the South Sauty Creek area, where a fisherman reported finding a body that evening. Marine Patrol Troopers arrived on the scene and located and confirmed a body was found. A forensics team from The Department of Forensic Sciences in Huntsville, Al. was dispatched to the scene to assist in the investigation. 

Today, The Department of Forensic Sciences Huntsville Laboratory confirmed that the identification of the body discovered in South Sauty Creek yesterday was that of Koy Spears, 18, of Geraldine.
