Owens Crossroads Man Charged With Intent To Meet A Child For Sex

Press Release from Boaz Police Department

Around 2:00 a.m. on the morning of May 28th, 2019, Boaz Police Officers arrested Kevin Alexander Guerrero-Beltran, 29, of Owens Crossroads. Mr. Guerrero-Beltran was charged with traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act. Mr. Guerrero-Beltran was communicating through an app known as “Whisper.” A parent intercepted the messages and notified the Boaz Police Department. When Mr. Guerrero-Beltran arrived at the specified location he was met by Boaz Police Officers. He has since been transported to the Marshall Co. Jail on a $60,000.00 bond.

With children out of school for summer and many having more time on their hands, this should serve as a reminder to parents to monitor what their children are doing on their phones and computers. There are predators on many commonly used apps and websites waiting for an opportunity to victimize a child. With the coordination between the officers and the parent we were fortunate that didn’t happen in this case.
