The Tony Award-winning Roald Dahl’s musical Matilda the Musical is a captivating story about a young girl who uses the power of her imagination, friendship, and storytelling to make a better life for both her and her fellow classmates. This inspiring story boasts a powerful message to the youth of our own community about standing up to bullies and being a good rebel.

The musical boasts a wonderful selection of over 20 musical numbers such as Naughty, The Chokey Chant, Loud, When I Grow Up, and Revolting Children. Packed with high-energy choreography alongside catchy songs sung by a cast of mainly younger students is sure to entertain and delight audiences of all ages!

The story of a little girl named Matilda with her hilarious wit, intelligence and psychokinetic powers will be brought to life on the Tom Bevill Lyceum Stage with help from our amazing state of the art technology and facilities! To encapsulate Matilda’s library and love for books we have built a set that contains over 400 hand-built books that line the perimeter of the proscenium stage filled with handwritten pages of stories from all over the world and not one page contains the exact same story. Patrons will be meet with amazing scenery and theatrical magic involving actual magic tricks, trampolines, and 30-foot hanging swings.

Matilda the Musical is a wonderfully designed production built and designed by about 40 people and performed by an extraordinary group of 30 students and community members. The crew consists of more than 15 people working on costumes, set construction, prop design, sound, and lighting. The 30 cast members each play a variety of roles throughout the production, including Matilda, Mrs. Wormwood, Ms. Honey, and the notorious Ms. Trunchbull.

NACC’s Theatre Department, led by Director of Theatre Kayleigh Smith, has used the college’s state-of-the-art technical equipment and talented theatre students, community members, and college staff to bring in-person productions back to the area.

“We have had an amazing time putting Matilda the Musical together for our community,” said Smith. “Matilda the Musical will feature mesmerizing musical dance numbers, a large cast full of talent, and incredible story telling brought to life using sound, music, lighting, choreography, beautiful scenery, and most importantly of all, imagination!”

Finally, Smith is grateful for the support given to the NACC Theatre. “We would like to thank the amazing cast and crew for their tireless efforts to bring the magic of theatre to life. They have poured so much time, energy, and love into this show! A huge thank you to our biggest supporter and president of Northeast, Dr. David Campbell, as well as the entire NACC family, for their belief in, and support of creating quality live theatre for those we serve. We could not do what we do without your advocacy for the arts.”
