It’s Time For the 68th Annual DeKalb County VFW Fair

Fort Payne, Alabama – September 15, 2023

The DeKalb County VFW Agricultural Fair is back for its 68th year, and it promises to be an event you won’t want to miss! From September 25 to September 30, 2023, Fort Payne, Alabama, will be bustling with excitement as the fair takes over with rides, entertainment, and special attractions.

Kissel Entertainment on the Midway

The heart of the fair, the midway, will be filled with the thrilling rides and games provided by Kissel Entertainment. Ride enthusiasts can purchase tickets at just $1.50 plus tax per ticket, or get even more value with 22 tickets for only $30 plus tax. And don’t forget, kids under 6 enter the fair for free!

Special Attraction: Boon Hill Gallery (Chainsaw Carving)

One of the highlights this year is the Boon Hill Gallery, featuring mesmerizing chainsaw carving performances every night. This unique artistry is sure to leave you in awe.

Monday, September 25 – Bruce’s Foodland Plus Night

The fair kicks off on Monday with Bruce’s Foodland Plus Night. From 5 pm to 6 pm CST, the gate and all rides are free, courtesy of Bruce’s Foodland Plus. After 6 pm, gate admission is $5. Enjoy Kissel Entertainment on the midway, and grab your ride tickets. At 7 pm entertainment, it is Southern Torch Night, Ronnie Osborn and STILL KICKIN’ will entertain the crowd, and don’t miss the Youth Lamb Show at 6:00 pm.

Tuesday, September 26 – Armband Night

On Tuesday, gates open at 5 pm. Purchase an armband for $25 plus tax and enjoy unlimited rides. WQSB presents Country Music Night with “Country Case” to keep you entertained.

Wednesday, September 27 – $2 Night

Wednesday is a budget-friendly night with all rides priced at just $2 plus tax. Gates open at 5 pm, and the Fortner Brothers 4 Christ will provide gospel entertainment at 6 pm. Catch the Dairy Goat Show at 5:00 pm.

Thursday, September 28 – Buy One Get One Armband

Thursday offers a special deal – buy one armband for $30 plus tax and get the second one free. Both persons must be present at the time of purchase. Enjoy Kissel Entertainment and an evening of music presented by Chris Roberts featuring students from the School of Music and FPHS Music Class. The Meat & Boer Goat Show is scheduled for 5:00 pm.

Friday, September 29 – Kissel Entertainment Night

The fair continues on Friday with Kissel Entertainment Night. Ride tickets are available at $1.50 plus tax per ticket or 22 for $30 plus tax. The PICKIN’ POST presents The “Crossroad” band performing country music at 6 pm, and the Horse & Mule Show is set for 6:30 pm.

Saturday, September 30 – Kids Day

The grand finale arrives on Saturday, with gates opening at 10 am. From 10 am to 3 pm, it’s Kids Day, and children and teachers get free admission. Armbands are $30 each or tickets are $1.50 + tax per ticket or 22 tickets for $30 + tax. The Boon Hill Gallery’s chainsaw carving demonstration starts at 1:00 pm. The 4-H Chick Chain Show begins at 11:00 am, followed by an auction at 3:00 pm.

From 3 pm till close, the gate admission is $5, and the midway comes alive again with Kissel Entertainment. Tickets are $1.50 + tax per ticket or 22 tickets for $30 + tax. Enjoy a special performance at 5:30 pm presented by South State Realty, featuring the 33rd Annual Gospel Singing with “The Sharps” and “Gold City.” The Open Beef Show will be at 5:00 pm.
