Georgia man arrested for electronic solicitation of a child

From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:

FORT PAYNE, Ala. – On Friday, February 2nd, 2024, the DeKalb County Criminal Investigation Division received report of a 12-year-old female who had been the victim of sexual solicitation through Snapchat by an unknown male offender.  An investigation into the incident to determine the identity of the male was launched with very little initial information to go on.  After over a month of case work and with assistance with ROCIC, the subject was positively identified as Jehad Noman Saloum (21 of Augusta, Ga).

A warrant was issued for Saloum, and attempts were made by DeKalb County Investigators as well as Georgia Law enforcement to locate and arrest Saloum.

In May, Saloum was arrested in Hillsborough County (Tampa) Florida and an extradition process began to extradite him to DeKalb County on his warrant.  On Friday, June 7th, Saloum was booked into the DeKalb Conty Detention Center on the charges of Electronic Solicitation of a Child, a Class B Felony.  At the time of this release, Saloum remains in jail with a $ 150,000 bond.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “It is sad that we are seeing these types of crimes more and more.  But knowing the cases are worked diligently and thugs such as these are getting arrested displays the passion pursued by the Investigation Unit.”

This was a tough case with hardly any info to go on but like all others, it’s a priority when involving our youth.  The disgraceful thug may have been from Georgia, but when you do this evil nonsense, we’ll bring you to Sweet Home Alabama and house you in our facility.”

“God Bless!” Concluded Sheriff Welden.
