An accident with fatality occurred at the intersection of Alabama Ave NW and 13th Street N. A 2003 Jeep Liberty, driven by Robert Joseph Hairell age 21 of Fort Payne and a 1997 Nissan Altima, driven by Barbara Appleton Burgess, age 77 of Fort Payne collided at the intersection. Hairell was transported to Dekalb Regional Medical Center. Ms. Burgess was pronounced deceased at the scene.
