Fort Payne City Council Meeting – ALABAMA to hold concert for Toy’s for Tot’s

The Fort Payne City Council met in regular session on Tuesday, November 19, 2019. Business conducted in this meeting:

  • Approved to rebid a skid steer mulching unit. No bids were received in the first round of bidding. (one bid did come in after the deadline)
  • Approved to create an Assistant IT position.
  • Approved a request from Steve Sparks, representing Fort Payne High School, for a $2,000 appropriation to the Fort Payne High School Basketball program to help off-set the cost of the annual Wills Valley Shoot-Out basketball tournament.
  • Approved a request from the Fort Payne High School Band Winter Guard for a $1,000 appropriation to help offset the cost of participating in competitions.

There was discussion about having the city attorney looking at streamlining the current “old abandon vehicle” ordinance, which was put in place in 2009.

The ALABAMA Band will hold a Toy’s for Tot’s concert, to help the Marine’s Toy’s for Tot’s drive this year, at the ALABAMA Fan Club, on November 29, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. Bring a toy to donate, for admission to get in.
