The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office held training and qualifying yesterday (Thursday April 18, 2019) for all of their employees. Training was held from 1:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Sheriff Nick Welden stated, “This is something we do to better prepare our employees.” Officers were trained on night time stress shooting, shots fired after a car chase, and qualified with rifles, backup weapons, and duty weapons. Officer training is now done twice a year and includes doing more intense, real world, training.
