DeKalb County Detention Center receives new body scanner

FORT PAYNE, Ala. – Thanks to the NCIC Inmate Communications, we are the proud owners of a new X-ray full Body Scanner for the Detention Center.  This was at no cost to the tax-payers as it was purchased solely by NCIC.

This is an exceptional addition to our Detention Center, because it will help ensure the safety of our Officers and Inmates with keeping contraband, such as Fentanyl, and weapons out of the jail.

The radiation is minimal, an individual would get no more than you would get spending a day in the sun.

Again, we would like to thank NCIC for this wonderful technology, and their unprecedented dedication to keeping our Officers safe.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “We are so thankful to receive this body scanner and all the benefits it will ensue for our Officers.  They will be able to check an individual for narcotics or weapons without making any physical contact with an individual.

Thank you again for making this happen.

“God Bless!” Concluded Sheriff Welden.
