TDOT officials are continuing to investigate the cause of the failure.
The concrete railing on the I-75 Southbound ramp to Atlanta collapsed onto the I-24 Westbound ramp in Chattanooga earlier today. The bridge has been inspected and deemed safe by TDOT bridge inspectors. However, both ramps will remain closed as concrete barrier rail is placed onto the I-75 ramp. It’s estimated both ramps will reopen later this evening. Permanent repairs to the railing are being expedited and will likely take 3-4 weeks to complete.
