The Storm Prediction Center has issued a 15% or “Slight Risk” for Severe weather for this Thursday, February 16, 2023. However, large differences exist in the placement of a surface low early Thursday and its forecast evolution. As we get closer and once model variability decreases and confidence increases towards a particular scenario with the forecast mid-level trough evolution and surface low track. Then forecasts can include a better timing and the severity of events. At this time, Tornadoes, Hail, and Damaging Winds will be possible.
Be sure to prepare now and make sure you have multiple ways to receive warnings. If you live in a mobile home, make plans now to locate shelters in your area. And Do Not wait until a Warning is issued for you area to try and go to a shelter, by that time, it is to late to be on the road. Most shelters will lock their doors once a warning is issued and will not allow entry during that time, due to safety. So, plan in advance and do not wait.
