DEKALB COUNTY, AL. – A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, has claimed the life of a Fort Payne juvenile. The 15-year-old was fatally injured when the 2014 Toyota Tacoma the teen was driving left the roadway, struck several trees, a large boulder and then entered a pond. On Friday, Oct. 25, the Toyota and the teen were both located submerged in the pond. The teen was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The crash occurred on Dekalb County 485, approximately three miles north of Fort Payne, in Dekalb County. Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.
