The South will see the threat of Severe Weather on Monday, March 7, 2022. Damaging Winds and a few Tornadoes will be possible across the outlook area. This area includes all of Central and North Alabama. According to The Storm Prediction Center there will be a deep layer of shear that may develop over Alabama. This shear will produce damaging wind gusts and supply fuel for storms to become Severe across the area. This shear will help some of these storms to begin to rotate and possibly produce a few Tornadoes. “Farther south across MS and AL, deep layer shear around 50 kt is likely along with effective SRH over 200 m2/s2. In addition, up to 1000 J/kg MUCAPE may develop over AL by late afternoon. The end result is areas of strong to severe wind gusts, and perhaps a brief Tornado or two depending on mesoscale factors.”
