SEVERE Weather will be possible across parts of the South on Tuesday, March 24, 2020. There will be possibly be two separate rounds of Severe Weather, one in the morning and one in the afternoon/evening hours.
On Tuesday morning there will be the chance for thunderstorms and some of those storms could become Severe, producing damaging winds and hail. On Tuesday afternoon we will see another round of thunderstorms. With the heating of the day and favorable shear for updraft organization/rotation, this will bring a higher risk for a few Tornadoes to develop across the outlook area. Along with a few Tornadoes, damaging winds and hail will also be a threat again in the afternoon and evening hours.
With the COVID-19 threat, please check early with your local storm shelters to make sure which ones will be open. According to the EMA, each local town or city operates the shelter located in their area and will make the determination whether to open it or not, due to the COVID-19 outbreak. So, again, check to make sure your shelter is open, before traveling to it during Severe Weather.
