Rainsville, Al. — Sand Mountain Electric Cooperative (SMEC) has officially announced details for its 2025 Annual Meeting, inviting members to participate in a two-day registration event at the DeKalb County Schools Coliseum in Rainsville.
The event will take place on Friday, April 25, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.. All SMEC members are encouraged to attend and are reminded to bring a copy of their electric bill for registration purposes.
In an ongoing effort to promote community engagement and reward membership, SMEC is offering a $25 electric bill credit to every member who registers. Additional incentives include complimentary Bic pens and hand sanitizer, available while supplies last.
Members who register will also be entered into a series of prize drawings scheduled for Saturday. The drawings will include:
• Two $500 cash prizes
• Four $250 cash prizes
• Four drawings for $200 in free electricity per month for one year
Participants need not be present to win.
The cooperative is also making accessibility a priority, offering golf cart transportation to assist attendees throughout the event. Registered members will receive ballots to vote in the election of three SMEC trustees, with the official business meeting beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, followed by the prize drawings.
SMEC’s annual meeting serves as both a functional and celebratory gathering, allowing members to participate in cooperative governance while also enjoying benefits and a sense of community.
