Related drug arrests for month of August

FORT PAYNE, Ala. – In the month of August 14 were arrested on drug related charges.  We would like to thank DeKalb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Narcotics Agents, Officers with Ider, Crossville and Fyffe PD’s for always being there ready and willing to help.

On Saturday, August 3rd, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on Hwy 68 at the Delta Express in Collinsville for an equipment violation.  During the stop, Deputies found a backpack containing methamphetamine.  Amanda Chamblee (37 of Centre) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Tuesday, August 6th, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on County Road 792 for an equipment and tag violation.  During a search, methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.  Patricia Carol Jenkins (59 of Flat Rock) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Wednesday, August 7th, DeKalb County Deputies assisted in the Fort Payne area on a BOLO.  Deputies spotted the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.  Methamphetamine was found in the vehicle.  Jason Dewayne Law (48 of Fort Payne) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, August 8th, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle driving in the center of the road on County Road 155.  During the stop, Deputies detected a strong odor of marijuana coming from within the vehicle.  During a search, Kratom, Xanax and marijuana were found.  Anthony Lee Graham (41 of Higdon) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x2) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Saturday, August 10th, DeKalb County Deputies responded to a call of a suspicious person, possibly intoxicated, around Rowdy’s Gas Station.  Marty Lamanuel Croft (57 of Section) was found in possession of methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia.  Croft was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Public Intoxication.

Also, on Saturday, DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Willow Road in Ider finding marijuana, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle.  Russell Noah Davis (49 of Hixson, Tn) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Marijuana 2nd and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.  Officers with Ider PD assisted with this arrest.

On Monday, August 19th, DeKalb County Deputies responded to a call of an intoxicated person on County Road 826 in Fort Payne.  Upon arrival, Deputies encountered Dakota Storm Butler (29 of Fort Payne) intoxicated or under the influence of a controlled substance.  Butler was then found to be in possession of approximately 12 grams of methamphetamine.  Butler was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute (controlled substance), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Probation Violation.

On Thursday, August 22nd, DeKalb County Deputies responded to a domestic violence call on County Road 834 in Crossville.  During a search of the residence, methamphetamine was found.  Jason Layne Harbin (44 of Crossville) was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Domestic Violence 3rd.

On Sunday, August 25th, DeKalb County Deputies were conducting a driver’s license check at the intersection of County Road 27 and County Road 47, when a vehicle driven by Randy Dwayne Grier Jr (33 of Powell) came through with several open alcoholic beverages in the rear floorboard and odor of marijuana.  Methamphetamine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia were found in the vehicle.  Grier was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Also, on Sunday, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on Hwy 35, near the college.  When the driver pulled over, he exited the vehicle, initiating a foot chase with him being apprehended a brief time later.  During a search of the vehicle, Deputies found drug paraphernalia containing methamphetamine and three different controlled substances.  The passenger, Kirstie Breanne Thrift (26 of Section) claimed all illegal drugs belonged to her.  Thrift was charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance (x4), Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Disorderly Conduct.

On Tuesday, August 27th, Officers with Crossville PD responded to the Kilpatrick Quick mart on a disturbance call.  Officers made contact with Angela Baker Upton (47 of Leesburg) who, due to having warrants, gave Officers a fake name.  Upton was later found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and methamphetamine.  Upton was charged with Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (x2), Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Use False ID to Obstruct Justice and 3 warrants for Failure to Appear.

Also, on Tuesday, DeKalb County Deputies stopped a vehicle on County Road 383 for having an expired tag.  Drug paraphernalia was seen in the vehicle and after a search, methamphetamine and additional drug paraphernalia were found.  Cleveland Bailey Brown (26 of Boaz) was charged with Unlawful Possession with Intent to Distribute (controlled substance) and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

On Thursday, August 29th, Officers with Fyffe PD, along with DeKalb County Deputies conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 75 in Shilo finding methamphetamine in the vehicle.  Charles Joseph Garrett (26 of Section) and Zachary Wayne Green (34 of Fort Payne) were both charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “As you can see, the war we fight against drugs is an every day battle.  If you also notice, there is no discretion of age.  It is definitely a tool of the devil and a hard battle to fight daily.  Thank the Lord we have a county full of dedicated servants who are willing to continue the good fight day in and day out.  We won’t stop, we won’t slow down and Lord willing, we will hunt it all down.”
