Grand Opening & Ribbon Cutting for Rainsville Disc Golf Course was held Monday, June 4, 2024
Statement given by Rainsville Resident & Course Designer, Stacey Sanford:
“I appreciate the City of Rainsville for allowing me to volunteer my time to make this course a reality and to promote the city as well. I was blessed to have my friend, Mr. Lavone Wolfe, assist with his 50 years of disc golf experience for the finishing touches. Lavone is a well respected Certified Master Designer, 1994 PDGA Hall of Fame Inductee, 2 time PDGA World Putting Champion, 1989 Top Player in the World, and owner of Hall of Fame Course Designs. He is a true class act with a real passion to help all of us amateurs learn the sport.
[My son, Jarrett Sanford, provided the graphics for the hole signs and course map, incorporating the city seal in a unique way.] I appreciate everyone who has supported this project along the way, especially the hard-working team at Rainsville Parks & Rec.
The 18-hole course length is 7,540’ with a par of 60 that every level of player will enjoy and be challenged by. Every hole has its own characteristics and will challenge your ability to use many different shot types to score. With the challenges this course presents we will be able to host tournaments/League that will attract professional and amateur players alike for some very exciting disc golf.
