Mark Huber Announces Candidacy for Rainsville City Council, Place 2

Rainsville, Al. — Lifelong Rainsville resident Mark Huber has officially qualified to run for Place 2 on the Rainsville City Council in the upcoming municipal election.

Huber brings more than four decades of experience owning/operating a small business, experience in local media, and experience in leadership & community service to his candidacy. He currently serves as General Manager of WVSM Radio and Managing Editor of WVSM Digital News in Rainsville, where he has worked for over 47 years.

“I have spent my entire life in Rainsville—raising a family, running a business, and serving our community,” said Huber. “I care deeply about the future of our city and want to help make Rainsville a safe and prosperous place for all of our families.”

Huber holds a Bachelor’s degree in Management of Technology from Athens State University, as well as an EMS, EMT-Intermediate degree from Northeast Alabama Community College. He is a 1982 graduate of Plainview High School and is also an Amateur Radio Operator and Severe Storm Spotter for the National Weather Service.

His record of leadership and community service includes:

  • Serving on the Rainsville City Council, Place 2, from 1992 to 1996
  • 25 years on the Northeast Alabama Home and Garden Show Board of Directors
  • Former service with the Rainsville Rescue Squad, Rainsville Fire Department, and Rainsville Police Department (Reserve Officer)
  • Volunteer work with DeKalb County EMA
  • Leadership roles in the Rainsville Chamber of Commerce, including two terms as President and also as Vice President

Huber is married to Regina (Morgan) Huber (34 yrs). and is the proud father of two children, Halle and Harrison.

“As a lifelong resident and local business owner, I’m committed to putting Rainsville first,” Huber added. “I humbly ask for your support in the August 26th election. Together, we can work toward a stronger, safer future for our city.”
