According to the Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office, as the holiday’s approach, there is usually an increase in people trying to pass counterfeit money. If someone is paying cash for goods or services, make sure to verify the bills are legal.
From the DCSO, “With Christmas fast approaching, we want to warn local business and consumers to be aware of counterfeit money circulating in the area. We have had a few local businesses this has happened to already and we certainly don’t want it happening to anyone else. So far the only counterfeit bills we have seen are 100s. Please pay close attention to the bills you receive and if you receive a counterfeit bill, please contact the DCSO or your local police department.”
