01/23/2025 – Arrest made on Domestic Situation…
According to Sheriff Jeff Shaver, deputies responded to an emergency 911 call at a residence on County Road 33. The caller stated that her boyfriend had locked her out of the home and barricaded himself inside. Additionally, the suspect allegedly made threats against law enforcement if they responded. As the woman attempted to seek help at a neighbor’s house, the suspect reportedly discharged a firearm in her direction. The Cherokee County Emergency Response Team (ERT) was activated and dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, law enforcement located the suspect near the neighbor’s fence, where he appeared to be searching for the victim. A firearm was discovered lying near the fence.
The suspect, identified as Jesse Free, 30, of Duncanville, Alabama, was taken into custody without further incident. During the investigation, it was determined that Free had forcibly taken the firearm from his girlfriend. Jesse Free was charged with Domestic Violence 3rd – Reckless Endangerment, Robbery 3rd, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
