AHSAA CBOC adjusts Scottsboro High School’s Classification

MONTGOMERY – The Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Central Board of Control (CBOC) met virtually Monday and amended the 2026-2027 and 2026-28 school classification for Scottsboro High School.

“Due to a miscalculation and incorrect submission of data by Scottsboro City Schools,” said AHSAA Executive Director Heath Harmon, “ Scottsboro High School (SHS) was incorrectly placed into the 5A classification for the next classification period. We appreciate the Central Board’s decision to make the following adjustments. This only affected a classification change for Scottsboro High School.”

Historically, if incorrect numbers are submitted to the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s Central Board of Control they are corrected. As a result, SHS has been moved from Class 5A to Class 4A for the next classification period. The school will be competing in Class 4A, Region 8 in football; Area 16 in volleyball; Section 4 in cross country; in Class 1A-4A Region 8 for flag football; and Class 1A-4A Section 3 for swimming and diving.

Winter and spring sports will be reclassified in March.

Accordingly, the following change has been made to Douglas High School’s football realignment. Class 5A Douglas is moving in football to Region 8.
