RAINSVILLE — On Friday, Sept. 11, 2026, the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, WVSM Radio paid tribute to local first responders with a wreath-laying and plaque presentation. Station representatives placed a memorial wreath at the First Responders Memorial in Rainsville City Park in remembrance of those killed on 9/11 and in appreciation of the men and women who continue to serve the community.WVSM also presented commemorative plaques to the Rainsville Police Department and the Rainsville Fire Department, calling the gifts a small expression of gratitude for their service, courage and dedication.
Station officials said the day should never be forgotten — not only for the innocent lives lost, but for the firefighters, police officers, paramedics and other first responders who ran toward danger while others fled. They also honored those who still answer the call every day in communities like Rainsville. Organizers said one of the most meaningful ways to remember Sept. 11 is to recall Sept. 12, 2001, when Americans set aside their differences and stood together as neighbors, friends and one nation.“We remember. We honor. We will never forget,” WVSM Radio said.
