Warrants were issued for Young and he was arrested on 8/14/2026 on two counts of Theft of Property 1st degree. Young had resigned from his position at the Dekalb County Road Department on 8/13/2026. The investigation is still ongoing and more charges may be pending.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “Anytime someone is a government employee, they’re placed in a position of trust. Mr. Young betrayed the trust placed in him by the Dekalb County Commission and the citizens of Dekalb County, and there should always be consequences for corrupt acts. I am thankful for the good working relationship our office has with the Dekalb County Commission and their quick reporting of the missing equipment.”
“God Bless!” Concluded Sheriff Welden.
