DeKalb County Board of Education Reviews Personnel Changes, CNP Bids at June 30 Meeting

RAINSVILLE, Ala. — The DeKalb County Board of Education held its regular meeting on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, with several personnel items, bid approvals, contracts, and the next meeting date listed on the agenda.

The board’s agenda included approval of the meeting agenda and approval of the June 16, 2026 meeting minutes.

Under bids, the board considered Child Nutrition Program bid items, including Chemical Services through SFSFac, Produce through Forestwood Farms, Ice Cream through Ice Cream Warehouse, Bread through Flower’s Baking Co., Milk and Orange Juice through Borden Dairy, and Smallware through Singer MS, LLC.

Several resignations were listed on the agenda, including Dr. Daniel Sigler, Computer Science Teacher at Crossville Middle School; Crystal Stimpson, CNP Worker at Crossville Middle School; Judy Jones, Itinerant Special Education Bus Aide at Collinsville High School; Chase Willingham, History Teacher at Sylvania High School; Hannah McCurdy, Elementary Teacher at Sylvania High School; Hannah Lowden, Elementary Teacher at Geraldine High School; Brooklyn Frost, CNP Assistant Manager at Henagar Jr. High School; Leah Eisenhart, CNP Worker at Ider High School; Suzie Newton, Art Teacher at Crossville High School; and Hailey Wooten, Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School.

The board also reviewed several transfers. Amanda Clay was listed for transfer from Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School to Elementary Teacher at Valley Head High School. Ethan Jones was listed for transfer from Social Sciences Teacher at Geraldine High School to Social Sciences Teacher at Fyffe High School. Megan Davis was listed for transfer from Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School to Elementary Teacher at Fyffe High School. Rebekah Mikell was listed for transfer from Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional at Geraldine High School to Assistant Custodian at Geraldine High School. Felicia Higdon was listed for transfer from ARI Local Reading Specialist at Ider High School to Assistant Principal at Ider High School, effective July 1, 2026.

Several certified placements were also listed, pending background review, suitability criteria, negative pre-employment drug screening, and appropriate certification. Those included Jasmine Lang Little as Itinerant Special Education Teacher at Geraldine High School; Amanda Johnson as Secondary Science Teacher at Plainview High School under a TEAMS contract; Tristian Moon as Mathematics Teacher at Crossville Middle School; Heather Henshaw as Elementary Teacher at Valley Head High School; Keisha Dobbins as Elementary Teacher at Valley Head High School; Jennifer Brown as District Career Coach at DeKalb County Technology Center; Elyse Jordan as Arts Teacher at Crossville High School; Eli Slaton as Social Sciences Teacher at Geraldine High School; Madalyn Fuller as Elementary Teacher at Geraldine High School; Josh Hill as Middle School Mathematics Teacher at Crossville Middle School; Laura Harris as Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School; and Elizabeth Wells as Elementary Teacher at Crossville Elementary School.

Support placements listed on the agenda included Cassidy McDaniel as Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional at Fyffe Special Services Center; Joey Willoughby as Bus Driver at Fyffe High School; Mallory Lindsey as Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessional at Plainview High School; Olivia Haney and Allie Farmer as Itinerant Special Education Paraprofessionals at Ider High School; Amy Hale as CNP Worker at Ider High School; Amy Silvers as Itinerant Registered Behavior Technician for the district; Lacie Haynes as CNP Worker at Geraldine High School; Teresa Bowen as Itinerant Special Education Bus Aide at Collinsville High School; Victoria Clay as Itinerant Registered Behavior Technician for the district; and Gregg Cole as Bus Mechanic in Transportation.

The agenda also included the June 30, 2026 Contracts Report and a superintendent’s recommendation for permission to place pending board approval.

The next DeKalb County Board of Education meeting is scheduled for July 23, 2026. A work session will begin at 8:00 a.m., with the regular meeting to follow immediately after in the Meeting Room at the Facilities Building.
