From the Office of DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden:
FORT PAYNE, Ala. – On Sunday, May 4, 2025, deputies were dispatched to Hwy 75 in Ider to assist in regards to an officer involved shooting. Ider Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting that a shooting incident had taken place. Once on scene an officer involved shooting incident occurred with an armed male subject. The subject was taken to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Multiple agencies arrived on scene to assist. Jacksonville State University Center for Applied Forensics was called to process the scene. This investigation is ongoing.
DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said of the incident: “I am so thankful this did not end up being worse than what it was. The Officers and Deputies on scene did an exceptional job following protocol and making sure everyone involved made it home to their families.”
