Severe Storms Expected This Weekend Across Central U.S.

A powerful storm system is set to sweep across the central United States late Friday into Saturday, bringing the risk of severe weather, including damaging winds, large hail, and possible tornadoes.

Meteorologists predict an intense storm system will develop over the Plains on Friday, moving toward the Upper Midwest by Saturday morning. Strong winds in the upper atmosphere and a rapidly strengthening low-pressure system will fuel the storms, with a cold front surging eastward.

The highest risk for severe weather on Friday, March 14th includes parts of Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, and the Lower Mississippi Valley, where warm, moist air will combine with strong winds to create dangerous conditions. Further north, into Iowa, Wisconsin, and Illinois, severe storms are possible despite lower humidity levels.

By Saturday, March 15th, the system will push into the Deep South, with Mississippi and Alabama at risk for severe storms, including tornadoes. The exact strength and path of these storms remain uncertain, but forecasters will refine predictions as the system develops and as we get closer to the weekend.

Residents in the affected areas should stay updated on weather alerts and have a safety plan in place.
